Prosthetics solve the problem of missing teeth and lost functions of the masticatory organ. There are two basic types of prosthetic restorations: fixed and movable. Removable restorations include dentures, while fixed restorations are as follows:
- porcelain crown – used to rebuild a severely or completely damaged tooth crown. It is applied to a ground tooth. It has a natural appearance and considerable durability;
- porcelain bridge – restores a lost tooth by attaching crowns to neighbouring teeth. The bridge consists of three prosthetic crowns. Two of them are pillars, located on both sides of the missing tooth. The third, middle, replaces the missing tooth;
- veneer – thin prosthetic restoration to improve the shape and colour of the tooth. To prepare space for veneers, only the enamel is sanded. Thanks to this, the veneers do not weaken the tooth structure.
