SEDATION AND GENERAL ANAESTHESIA

In the past, a visit to the dentist was inevitably associated with pain. Today, thanks to advanced technology, painful dental procedures are a thing of the past. Apart from local anaesthesia, our patients – especially those for whom visits to the dentist are extremely stressful, are offered sedation or general anaesthesia: sedation is a state of deep relaxation that occurs after the intravenous application of specialized pharmacological agents that effectively reduce tension. In addition to deep sedation, we also use inhalation sedation, which involves giving the patient nitrous oxide and oxygen with a small facial mask. Thanks to inhalation sedation, the patient feels relaxed and does not feel pain.
General anaesthesia (narcosis) is a temporary exclusion of the patient’s consciousness. In order to choose a safe method of anaesthesia, the patient’s medical history is obtained. Throughout the duration of the anaesthesia, the patient remains under the supervision of an anaesthesiologist.
